Company Description

Insmed Innovation UK Ltd, formerly Adrestia Therapeutics, is a leader in synthetic rescue therapies for genetically defined diseases and is part of Insmed Incorporated, a global biopharmaceutical company on a mission to transform the lives of patients living with serious and rare diseases. Our most valuable resource is our employees, and everything we do is motivated by a patients-first mentality. We are dedicated to growing our team with talented individuals from around the world who are willing to challenge the status quo, solve problems, and work collaboratively with a sense of urgency and compassion.

Guided by our core values of collaboration, accountability, passion, respect, and integrity, we aim to foster an inclusive, diverse, and flexible work environment, where our employees are recognized for leaning in and rolling up their sleeves. If you share our vision and want to work with the most dedicated people in the biopharma industry, come to Insmed to accelerate your career.

Summary

We are looking for a Scientist to join our growing team and help translate our novel synthetic rescue platform into first-in-class medicines. As a member of the drug discovery team, you will apply your prior experience in CNS drug discovery projects to drive programs to candidate selection across multiple modalities (small molecules and oligonucleotides). A critical component of the role will be the generation of functional data within a drug discovery cascade, requiring extensive knowledge of cell biology assay techniques. The successful candidate will be expected to generate high-quality data packages, working both independently and as part of a wider team to develop, optimise and execute cell-based assays.

Responsibilities

Additional representative responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:

  • Develop andimplement cell-based assays to provide functional characterisation of novel small molecule and oligonucleotide therapeutics and support project progression and decision-making.
  • Interpret experimental data, troubleshoot, and deliver high-quality data packages and reports. Report and present data to the wider project team.
  • Work collaboratively and interact with interdisciplinary research teams both internally and with external collaborators (CROs, Academic Investigators and Clinicians).
  • Provide input into drug discovery cascade design and candidate selection criteria.
  • We will encourage you to stay up to date with scientific literature and maintain an awareness of current and emerging techniques/technologies.
  • Participate and present data in company discussions to facilitate and drive project progression in meetings with external academic and commercial parties.#LI-VS1

Qualifications

Required :

  • Relevant PhD in a biological discipline or equivalent biopharma experience
  • Strong scientific track record in cell assay development and delivering screening cascades to support preclinical progression and candidate nomination
  • Wide-ranging experience of mammalian cell culture, including cell model generation and assay development
  • Background in neuroscience and experience in experimental design and execution with iPSC-derived neurons
  • Broad experience in cell biology techniques, including transfection, immunofluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry
  • Solid planning and organisational skills with a meticulous nature. Experienced in data QC and reporting.
  • Adaptable with the ability to thrive in a vibrant working environment

Preferred :

  • Experience in assay development and screening in an industry biopharma setting
  • Strong technical cell biology skill set, with experience in working with complex models, a range of cell-based assay formats and cellular readouts
  • Experience in working collaboratively with CROs to facilitate assay transfer and validation
  • Leadership experience within small molecule or oligonucleotide drug discovery programs
