Summary

Support and be a thought partner to the Head of EMEA and the European Leadership Team (ELT) to oversee our financial planning and analysis and financial operations across the region. The Executive Director is responsible for guiding the financial and strategic planning, reporting, audits, risk management, and leading a robust financial infrastructure to support our business.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities (Essential Role Responsibilities)
  • Support management on the financial implications of business activities to improve profitability, cash generation and return on the capital employed and be an active & contributing business partner in building sustainable growth
  • Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the company's goals and regulatory environment
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial laws and guidelines.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, provide financial forecasting, budgets, performance analysis, investment monitoring and risk analysis
  • Establish and enforce effective internal controls to maintain financial integrity and operational efficiency.
  • Manage relationships with banks, investors, auditors, and other financial institutions.
  • Evaluate and advise on the impact of strategic planning, new projects or investments
  • Identify opportunities for efficiencies and optimizing financial performance
  • Ensure tax, legal and financial compliance with local and global regulations including providing local technical accounting guidance on matters impacting EU entities and local (external) statutory reporting.
  • Be an active, engaged participant within the European Leadership Team (ELT) working cross-functionally to deliver on the region’s objectives.
  • Lead and participate in global and regional projects
  • Provide leadership and direction to the EMEA finance team, fostering a culture of high performance, engagement and continuous improvement.
Position Requirements (Required and/or Preferred Skills, Experience and Education):
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field; Master's degree or MBA highly desirable.
  • Proven experience as a Head of Finance for European region or similar role, within the biotech or life sciences industry.
  • Deep understanding of US GAAP, IFRS and EU statutory reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and management skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial personnel.
  • Adept at scenario planning and strategic financial modeling.
  • Over 15 years of progressive leadership experience in financial management, financial planning, and accounting, preferably in a complex, multinational, multi-site environment.
  • Experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry during a launch phase is highly advantageous.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management abilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficient in financial software and advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to provide a high level of English both verbal and written communication including analytical presentations.
  • Strategic thinker with a transversal view of business functions.
  • Strong business acumen with a focus on the financial health of the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Resilient and adaptable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
