Summary

Insmed Cambridge are advancing an early-stage research engine encompassing a wide range of technologies and modalities to deliver powerful new ways of treating a broad range of serious and rare diseases. We are seeking a skilled Bioinformatics Scientist I to support single-cell research, contributing to the development of analytical pipelines, computational tools, and data infrastructure to accelerate discovery efforts. This role will act as a key contributor delivering high quality informative analyses, carrying out rigorous quality control, and contributing to key decision making on our projects. As part of this role, you will support the pursuit of scientific research from early-stage target discovery and validation to lead optimisation and candidate selection. This work will require innovative thinking, a co-creation mindset and collaborative partnering with a multidisciplinary team including biologists, chemists, human geneticists, platform developers and data scientists.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize computational pipelines forsingle-cell transcriptomics (scRNA-seq, snRNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, and multi-omics data). 
  • Benchmark and implementstate-of-the-art methodologies for cell type annotation, data integration, clustering, and differential expression analysis. 
  • Collaborate withbiologists, human geneticists, and data scientiststo analyze multiomic datasets and extract meaningful insights into disease mechanisms. 
  • Work with publicly available and proprietary multiomic datasets todrive novel target discovery and validation. 
  • Contribute todata visualization, quality control, and pathway analysisto support biological interpretation. 
  • Support the integration ofsingle-cell bioinformatics tools into scalable pipelines, ensuring reproducibility and efficiency. 
  • Stay up to date with advances in single-cell bioinformatics and contribute to the evaluation ofemerging technologies and methodologies. 
  • Be a key player in a dynamic team, designing and maintaining critical bioinformatic platforms, tools and pipelines to help solve scientific problems 
  • Collaborate on the design and implementation of a flexible bioinformatic web-ecosystem empowering our wet lab scientists and data scientists to get more out of their data. 
  • Communicate project updates clearly and transparently to key decision makers. 
What we are looking for:
  • PhD (or equivalent experience) in bioinformatics, biology, genetics, medicine, machine learning, statistics, computer science or a similar area. 
  • Hands-on experience withsingle-cell RNA-seq analysis, including preprocessing, clustering, and differential expression analysis and experience with tools such as Seurat, Scanpy, SCVI, or scGPT. 
  • Proficiency inR, Python, and bioinformatics frameworks. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in acollaborative, multidisciplinary environment. 
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability topresent findings and contribute to cross-functional discussions. 
  • Experience coding collaboratively and using git as part of a larger collaborative project. 
  • This role will require you to work from our brand-new state-of-the-art offices and labs situated in Babraham Research Campus, South Cambridge. Hybrid working is offered based on specific business needs and the role requirements.
