Summary

The Associate Director, Global Medical Training will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive training program for medical affairs colleagues in Europe and Japan. This role will collaborate across the full Global Medical Training team to utilize and localize training plans, tools, and materials to the European and Japanese regions. The Associate Director, Global Medical Training will drive training in scientific expertise coupled with communication/soft skills. This will be a highly strategic role that will require close collaboration across the European and Japanese regions as well as with the Global Medical Strategy & Communications team, HEOR, and Field Medical Excellence.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities :
  • Medical Training Plans – Implement global training plans across Europe and Japan to drive worldwide consistency.  Create and deliver pull-through local trainings following global training sessions to meet regional training needs.  Identify unique local training needs and deliver solutions.  Utilize various learning methodologies including micro-learning, interactive case studies, etc. Develop and implement various training types including therapeutic area and product training, publication training, competitor training, pre-Congress training, and guidelines training.
  • Onboarding – Deliver onboarding training to medical new hires within assigned region.
  • Live and Virtual Training Sessions – Lead the agenda development, logistics, session planning for live and virtual training sessions.  Collaborate with subject matter experts to deliver specific sessions where needed.
  • Soft Skills – Understand local needs for communication and skill development training.  Funnel needs into annual global training plans.  Implement aligned programs in the Region.   For locally unique needs, lead development of programs.  Couple skills development with scientific content for a holistic approach.
  • Commercial Training – Partner with commercial cross-functional colleagues as appropriate.
  • Metrics - Track and report on training effectiveness, completion rates, and impact metrics 
  • Cross-functional Alignment - Partner across the full Global Medical Training team to ensure consistency worldwide.  Ensure close collaboration with Regional Leadership, Medical Directors, Field Medical Heads, Scientific Communications, Commercial Effectiveness deliver high quality, strategic training plans.  Partner with legal/compliance to ensure appropriateness of all materials.
  • Innovation – Identify and drive innovative approaches to training and adult learning.  Keep ahead of industry trends and new technology for effective learning.
Requirements :
  • Advanced degree required (PharmD, PhD, MD, NP-C)
  • 5+ years of Medical Affairs experience required including direct experience within Field Medical beneficial (at least 3 years)
  • Deep expertise in adult learning methodologies and training development required
  • Ability to develop therapeutic expertise
  • Forward looking with continuous process improvement mentality
  • Strong strategic thinking with ability to connect multiple components
  • Strong leadership presence and ability to present and engage across the organization
  • Ability to influence decision making
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to build effective relationships with internal partners
  • Enables creative problem solving, encourages unique solutions, and effectively solves challenges problems
  • Proven track record working in a global environment across multiple international markets
  • Strong understanding of regional healthcare systems and compliance environments worldwide, particularly in Europe and Japan
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills
  • Fluency in English required, additional European languages highly valued, Japanese language skills a plus
  • Ability to translate complex scientific information into engaging training content 
  • Flexible approach to changing priorities and business needs
