Summary

Insmed Innovation Cambridge are seeking a Senior Scientist to join our growing team and help translate our innovative synthetic rescue platform into groundbreaking new medicines. Your primary responsibility will be to apply your biomarker and assay development expertise to drive our drug discovery programs forward. You will work alongside a passionate, multidisciplinary team, who are driven by a mission to serve patient populations of greatest unmet medical need, using cutting edge research and novel technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop biomarkers to support a portfolio of drug discovery/development projects, as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Support translational biomarker efforts to enable target engagement and pathway modulation, assess efficacy and dose response, PK/PD, safety, disease modification, patient selection or stratification, and compound differentiation.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in soluble biomarker area with knowledge in other biomarker modalities and technologies.
  • Develop, validate and implement targeted singleplex / multiplex biomarker assays internally by working in labs, and where appropriate at external vendors via scientific monitoring
  • Identify and develop innovative biomarker solutions and implement new methodologies and technology platforms, depending on project needs.
  • Collaborate effectively in a matrixed environment to implement internal and external biomarker activities (at CROs), and provide interpretation of results to directly support program decision making.
  • Analyze, interpret, troubleshoot and deliver high-quality data packages and reports. Lead data presentations and discussions in both internal and external meetings to support and advance project milestones
  • Stay up to date with scientific literature and maintain an awareness of emerging biomarker technologies and therapies for neurodegenerative diseases.

What we are looking for:
  • MSc with at least 8 years, or PhD with at least 5-years equivalent biopharma experience in biomarker method development and validation. Experience executing biomarker plans and successfully implementing biomarker activities within a multidisciplinary drug discovery project team.
  • Experience in developing novel biomarker assays and/or optimizing assay parameters for superior performance.
  • Experience in biomarker discovery using patient multiomic data and translation into assays is desirable.
  • Understanding of the principles and challenges of translational assay design for CNS and rare diseases
  • Experience in biomarker assay design and execution supporting drug discovery/development process (e.g. target engagement, safety, efficacy biomarkers etc.)
  • Hands-on experience in immunoassay, multiplex and molecular assay development and optimization (e.g., ELISA, MSD, SIMOA, qPCR, dd-PCR, RNAseq, etc.).
  • Basic understanding of regulations surrounding biomarkers, and bioanalytical assay development.
  • Competence in data analysis software, including Graphpad, Excel and FlowJo.
  • Excellent team collaboration and communication skills.
